One Student Review of “University of Mary Washington”

  1. Thomas Ella says:

It’s a good school; the campus is fairly nice and small. Most of the people are nice and so far the classes have been good, and the guy : girl ratio is pretty great. A lot of the girls are just dumb bitches though, but there are also a lot of really awesome girls too. I’m pretty sure that’s how it is at every school though.

However, Fredericksburg is really boring. “Downtown” is an absolute joke. It makes Roanoke where I live look like Times Square. There’s basically NOTHING to do, so most people just try to get into drugs and stuff, but there aren’t many parties, and the ones that do happen either get busted or just suck too much to bust anyway.

I remember hearing a bunch of jokes about “how many students from COLLEGE X does it take to change a light bulb?” and the answer for Mary Washington was “the whole campus because there’s nothing else to do.” It’s so right. And plus, sports are completely underwhelming here. Since there’s nothing to do, sometimes half the campus will all just clear out for the weekend and you’ll walk outside and you’ll suddenly be the only one. It’s like they all orchestrate it. It’s ridiculous. Just completely randomly, the campus empties. I don’t get it.

So overall, it’s a good school, but if you’re looking for sports and parties and stuff to do on weekends, this probably isn’t your school. If you don’t really care about getting drunk every night or painting your chest and heading to the big game to get drunk and cheer on your team, it’s pretty cool. Not great. But good.
